Jeffrey Marzo Jr., a Kailua resident since birth, utilizes biking as his primary mode of transportation. From a young age, Jeffrey has recognized the benefit of biking as he reminisces about biking to his local elementary school in his childhood. He realized that “cars are expensive to own and maintain, and biking has been a much more accessible option.” Biking is practical for Jeffrey’s lifestyle due to the ease of his ten-minute commute to work via Kailua’s many bike lanes. Biking is great on sunny days, but the occasional windward-side downpour prompts Jeffrey to use the bus to stay dry during his commute. Although he does not bike everywhere, Jeffrey utilizes the city bus and carpooling to reach his further destinations.

While Jeffrey does not indicate environmental reasons as being his motive for biking to work, he affirms it as a sensible option for those attempting to incorporate clean energy into their lifestyle. As clean energy continues to evolve, he expresses interest in public accessibility to these solutions. In the meantime, Jeffrey will continue to use both public transportation as well as biking to get where he needs to go.
